Check this out.
The other day I read a story that left me lost for words over at I’m Speaking Truth . He reports that “Bishop” Thomas Weeks, is now looking for a new wife on the Web, though the ink on the divorce papers are barely dry. Speaking Truth and Independent Conservative have looked at this story in depth. I want to look at it this way: why on earth would grown women be throwing themselves, so to speak, at a man who’s been crazed enough to allegedly beat his then wife down in a car park? From the AJC:
“Weeks will document his effort to open his heart to love again in 10 streaming video “Web Episodes” of his reality show “WHO WILL BE THE NEXT MRS. WEEKS,” which airs at noon Tuesday on his Web site www.bishopweeks.com. The idea came after Weeks was flooded with thousands of e-mails and letters from people offering advice about what to look for in his third wife. Some even offered to be his wife.
“There are some very adamant women,” says Weeks’ associate, Minister Guy Reeves of Global Destiny. “A lady from Belgium flew all the way here to meet him. She came to the campus. She wanted to be the next Mrs. Weeks like many others who have approached me about their strong desire to be Bishop Weeks’ wife.” “
Huh? I think this is a worrying sign that some women refuse to listen to reality and dismiss domestic violence as something that could never happen to them or is somehow deserved by the abused (whether it is a man or a woman who is the victim). It’s akin to a child sticking their fingers in their ears when they want to believe what they want to believe.
Weeks’s perceived position in the church, power and fame could be a factor, but at grass roots level, how many times have women – and I include myself when I was younger here – made bad choices, not from a lack of information but despite knowledge we have about a man? Then we decide we’ve fallen in love with them.
A bad track record that has not been truly healed by Christ’s redemptive, life changing power is one sign that we shouldn’t walk, but RUN like Forrest Gump from a man like Thomas Weeks.
*Update* The wedding will take place on 17th October.

Like I said on Speaking Truth’s blog, any woman who, of her own volition, chooses to marry an abusive, sly man like that needs her head examining…thoroughly

I hear you Doug, seriously she should examine her motives for wanting to marry Mr Weeks, especially if she doesn’t even know the man!

Ya’ know systah? What’s wrong with these women and especially to go after a man who’s in a public setting such as a reality show! Come on!
And his abuse? This man just didn’t do a slap on the face, he was beating DOWN Juanita Bynum! Any woman that claims her “prize” of this man, will have no sympathy when she receives her “beat down” by her new husband.

Carlotta – for real, what is wrong with some women these days? Do they really want to be “first lady” THAT bad? Part of me wonders if the claims that these women wrote in are even true, but then again I’ve seen how some women clamour for those in the ministerial spotlight.
What a sorry state of affairs.

This is very troubling! The sad thing is that this happens in churches across America. There are many black women (women in general for that matter) who throw themselves at their pastors regardless if the pastor is married, if his wife just died yesterday, etc. I’ve seen first hand what women will do to seduce a man just because he has the title Pastor, Bishop or Rev. I am starting to realize that Weeks is no different than his ex-wife….they are in it for the money and fame. Then again it’s no different than how obsessed some women are with secular rap artists. Did any of you see the video of the girl who jumped on T.I. while he was on stage at Eddie Longs’ church?…..maybe women will start doing this to pastors too while they are preaching.

Shatoyia, that video clip was someting else! And has T.I. been born again? There’s a need for older women to teach these girls how to walk right like in Titus 2!
There has to be an element of arrogance to be putting oneself down to be Mrs Weeks #3… “I can change him…” or “Juanita just didn’t know how to treat him…”.

Naturalsystah, T.I. probably thinks he is born again because of pastors like Eddie Long. There is no excuse for a pastor letting an unregenerate sinner speak in front of his church. I mean anyone can listen to T.I.’s music and find that his lyrics are full of things that offend God. Think of how horrible an example Eddie Long is setting for the youth at his chuch….it would be hard for him to tell them not to buy or listen to T.I.’s music. There was another video on youtube of T.I. speaking at a easter service held by Eddie Long…..I am noticing that false teachers love to mingle with unregenerate sinners…but then again if they don’t have the truth how can they give anyone else the truth?
I saw the videos on Weeks’ website and I actually think he wants to be approached by a television network to do a reality show on finding the next Mrs. Weeks….?

Shatoyia – I’ve not heard any of T.I’s music before. Looking at the clip you posted, I think that he needs real Biblical guidance. It’s a shame he’s unlikely to get it from “bishop” Eddie Long.
Jenn – I feel you!
Lionelwoods7 – I hear you, you couldn’t make it up. He’s showing himself to be very carnal indeed.

I feel very sorry for any woman wanting to be the next Mrs. Weeks. The man is money hungry and heartless. He was broke when Junaita met him , and he is still broke. Please ladies be very carefull. Weeks is a man of many outfits. He may even put on your dress, and heels. He is not what it is all before the eyes.

What we are seeimg with these women is a reflection of what much of professing Churchianity is today. Basically, the refrain sounds something like: “I don’t care what this man (replace that with pastor or ministry) believes, teaches or has done. I don’t care what the Bible says. I have my mind made up; please don’t obstruct me with the truth“.
Come, Lord Jesus.

Dearly beloved of Christ Jesus our Lord:
Beware of false prophets, in these perilous days there are many. Matthew Chapter 24.
I am an Overcomer of the victim syndrome and years of abuse–redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb and the words of my testimony per Rev. 12:1. Today, I’m a Christian Advocate against domestic violence in the name of Jesus. The Lord healed and delivered me from depression, low self esteem, etc. etc. after being shot at, beaten, held hostage, raped and handcuffed behind my back before the perpretrator could finish carrying out his demonic plans to chop up my body and throw the corpse pieces into the river. Thank you Jesus for saving my life! The prepertrator of this horrific crime, was a professing Christian.
The church must take domestic violence more seriously, and not glamorize it. God hates domestic violence per Psalm 11:5. Jesus teaches against verbal abuse (killing of the soul) and physical murder after His sermon on the Mount in Matthew Chapter 5.
Deep root healing and deliverance is a must for victims and abusers as well as children and teens who witness domestic violence.
If my people called by My Name will humble themselves, seek My face, pray, turn from their wicked ways–I will hear from heaven and heal their land. II Chronicles 7:14.
God’s Holy Spirit flowed through me to carryout a powerful website; that enfolds (by the Blood of Jesus) the visitors with knowledge, healing, and deliverance from the generational iniquity/curse of domestic violence: please visit: http://www.changedwomanoutreach.com
